Mark of Five is an advanced 4-mallet 4.3 octave marimba solo aimed towards players with strong techniques in mallet independence and laterals. Mark of Five is about a feature of some of my favorite pieces of music. It often appears in the classical genre, in which a powerful 5-note 'lick' is played before a reprise or reiteration of the main theme of the song. I love the way these sound. This song is dedicated to capturing that idea while including the Mark of Five itself.
